From Romania to the whole world


The beginnings of the Romanian car manufacturer go back to 1952. After starting as a supplier for a truck plant, Dacia modernised and expanded into a car plant in 1967 - made possible by the help and participation of the Renault Group. The Dacia 1100, introduced one year later, rolled off the production line as a licensed Renault 8. The same applied to its successor, the Dacia 1300, a licensed version of the Renault 12, which sold almost 2 million units in its 35 years of production and was the most popular Dacia model in Romania up to that time.

Its successor was to be the Dacia Logan, developed at Renault's Technology Centre. Introduced in 2004, its low price made it particularly attractive in the following years. After all, as a car manufacturer with the lowest acquisition costs and the lowest depreciation of all vehicle brands, the Romanian company met exactly the spirit of the times.
